About Me

sam walshaw illustration: I graduated from Huddersfield University with a BA Hons degree in surface pattern design, I have worked professionally as an artist /illustrator since leaving my degree in 2000. I live in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, with my beautiful little girl Maisey, who has provided a great deal of inspiration not only for my art work , but for inventing fun stories! I have worked for several large greetings card companies and I have produced many successful designs and whole ranges of juvenile characters, for a wide range of high street stores, such as Clintons Sainsburys, and WHSmiths. I have always had a passion for writing and illustrating, and my heart has always lain in books. I was apprehensive at first, and I was unsure about how my work would be received, but I decided to give it a go! So in 2007 I submitted some picture book ideas to several publishers I discovered on the website, UK Children's Publishers. The response was positive but only Rockpool Children's Books gave me a go, and offered to take my books further, since then I have never looked Back! Stuart has been extremely supportive, and his help and guidance have been, and continue to be invaluable!
